What do I need to do each week? Item What do I need to do each week? What do I need to do each week? Each week you will focus on a different topic. You should complete all of the work for that week, during the week, as it can be very hard to catch up if you fall behind. You also have to plan for your assessments, as it is very important that they are submitted by the due date. Complete Weekly Content and Tasks weekly contentTo access your weekly materials click on ‘Weekly Content’ in the left hand menu. (see left image) Click on the file for that week week 1 and download the topic document, as well as any other files. The topic document is your main document for the week. Work through the document, completing any tasks as prompted. These may include: posting to the discussion board, answering questions, visiting websites, completing quizzes. You also need to work through any other documents or tasks provided. As you work through the topic document you should write down any questions you may have. As University students are expected to be self-directed learners, you should try to find the answer to your questions yourself first (Google is your friend!). If you still have questions you can post them to the Discussion Board, or email the Unit Coordinator or your tutor directly. Post to the Discussion Board As a Fully Online student one of the main ways you can interact with other students (and the Unit Coordinator, or your tutor) is via the Discussion Board. Depending on the unit, you may be asked to respond to specific questions on the Discussion Board each week, or you may be asked to post any questions that you have. It is good to use the Discussion Board to ask your questions, as it means that all other students (who may also have the same question) can see the response. Your unit may have one main Discussion Board for the entire unit, or you may have a smaller Discussion Board that is only accessed by other students in your online group and the Unit Coordinator, or your tutor. If you have one main Discussion Board you will be able to access it by clicking on the 'Discussion Board' link on the left-hand menu. If you have a Group Discussion Board, you can access it by clicking on your group under 'My Groups' in the left hand menu. Check your student email email locationYour student email is accessed via the ‘My Email’ channel on the Oasis ‘Welcome’ tab. It is your responsibility as a student to check your email at least once a week, but we recommend that you check it daily to ensure you do not miss any important information. You can set up your Student Email to automatically forward to your personal email by following the steps here https://oasisapps.curtin.edu.au/help/student/email.cfm#autoforwarding Once the study period has started it is expected that you will use your Student email for all communication with the University. You must use your student email to contact your Unit Coordinator(s). Please note, if you have set up a forward, you must still log into your Student Email account to reply. Check your Official communications occOfficial University correspondence sent to you via OASIS is delivered to the Official Communications Channel (OCC) on your Welcome tab. Not to be confused with Student Email, the OCC is a separate electronic message system designed to replace official letters traditionally sent by post to students. Messages sent by OCC cannot be deleted and it is a condition of enrolment that all Curtin students check their OCC at least weekly. Curtin monitors if and when students read their official communications. That means if you choose not to open and read an Official Communication, we can see that you have not opened it.
